The intake you open the hood to show off.

COBB's Redline intake replaces the factory airbox with a fully enclosed, hand-laid carbon housing and a direct path to the turbo. It flows better, sounds better, and it's CARB-approved for all 50 states.

COBB Redline carbon fiber intake 2x2 twill construction

Construction

Real carbon, all the way through.

The airbox is multiple layers of hand-laid 2x2 twill carbon — not a carbon skin over plastic. A high-gloss clear coat resists heat and UV fade, and a black Redline badge sits on the front duct.

COBB Redline intake filter and velocity stack

Airflow

Big filter, velocity stack, clean path.

Air passes through one of COBB's largest oiled filters, into a velocity stack, and straight into a wire-reinforced silicone turbo inlet — smooth, uninterrupted, and far less restrictive than the factory box.

Details

Hidden ports, blacked-out hardware.

The turbo inlet hides the air-pump and vacuum ports, clamps are black anodized, and a bespoke coolant recirculation hose with a check valve tucks the line out of sight while stopping backflow from the turbo.

Legal

50-state legal, CARB EO'd.

Carries California Air Resources Board Executive Orders D-660-132, D-660-136 and D-660-284 — legal for sale and use on emissions-controlled vehicles in every state.

Will it fit?

Built specifically for the US-market MK8 GTI. The Golf R and MK7 have their own COBB intakes.

Questions, answered.
Why do I need hood struts?

The Redline occupies the space where the factory hood prop rod is stowed, so the prop has to come out. Hood struts hold the hood up instead. They aren't included — ask us and we'll add a set to your order.

Is it legal in California?

Yes. It carries CARB Executive Orders, so it's legal for sale and use on emissions-controlled vehicles in all 50 states when installed per COBB's application guide.

Do I need a tune?

No, it runs on the factory calibration. If you're tuned, check with your tuner whether they have an intake-specific map.

Will it fit my 2025 GTI?

COBB's confirmed fitment currently runs through 2024. Send us your VIN and we'll check before you order.

Why does my weave look slightly different from the photos?

Every airbox is hand-laid, so small weave variations are normal and part of real carbon construction.

What's the return policy?

Uninstalled and in original packaging, returns fall under our standard refund policy. Get in touch before sending anything back.
