2: Tear-Down & Foam Delete
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the 4 T25 Torx screws from the top factory grille.

- Remove the T25 Torx screws inside the front fender wells and along the bottom belly pan.
- Carefully pull the MK6.5 bumper forward, unplugging the factory fog light/sensor harness.
- Unbolt and remove the factory MK6.5 bumper side mounts from beneath the headlights.
- Delete Foam Support: Remove the impact foam block directly off the steel crash bar to create clearance for the tighter MK6 profile.
Mock-up & Mount Installation
- Install the MK6 upper grille center mount.

- Install the new MK6 bumper side mounts under the headlights.

- Secure or adapt the factory MK6.5 fog light wiring. If you are running the MK6 R LED accent lights, these will need to be wired up; if deleting fogs entirely, tuck and zip-tie the factory plugs safely away from road debris.
Test-fit the MK6 R bumper onto the car to check clearance against the crash bar now that the foam is gone.
4: Alignment & Fender Modification
- Snap the bumper edges firmly into the new MK6 headlight side mounts.
- Align the R bumper with the hood and fender body lines, then secure the top Torx screws.
- Modify Fender Wells: Pull the factory fender liners forward to meet the MK6 R bumper mounting tabs.
- Mark and drill clean new holes into the plastic inner fender liners where they meet the bumper tabs.
- Install your old screws over the newly drilled holes on the liners.
- Thread your mounting bolts through the bumper tabs straight into the U-clips to lock the wheel wells down tight.
- Clip in the MK6 R lower center grille and side vent inserts.
