Golf 8 Mirror Projector Lamps
The factory projector lamp that throws a logo onto the ground when you unlock the car or open a door. Three designs to choose from: the VW dotted logo, the GTI badge, or the Golf Ball graphic. Genuine Volkswagen parts — the lens is cut for the correct focal distance, so the image lands sharp instead of blurred. Every set is a matched pair, left and right, so both sides always match.
Price is for the pair. Free shipping on orders over $100.
Overview
The detail that shows up before you do.
Hit unlock in a dark car park and the logo lands on the tarmac next to the door. It's a factory option on higher trims and a ten-minute part on the cars that missed out — provided the mirror was built to take it.
Install
Roughly ten minutes a side.
You're replacing lamps that are already there, not building a new circuit. The awkward part is getting the mirror glass out without cracking it — take your time on that and the rest is quick.
▶Watch the install walkthroughDo I need to remove the mirror from the car?
No. Most people get at the lamp by carefully tilting and popping the mirror glass off its ball mount, then working through the opening. The mirror body stays on the door.
Is any coding or adaptation required?
It's a direct like-for-like swap on a car that already has projection. The module doesn't know or care which gobo is in the lamp, so changing from one design to another works with no software involved.
Can I run this as a retrofit on a mirror without projection?
No. A non-projection mirror has no lens aperture in the underside and no wiring for the lamp. It needs a different mirror housing entirely, which is a much bigger job.
Do I have to do both sides?
The set gives you both, so you may as well. Fitting one new lamp against a faded original leaves you with two noticeably different projections on the ground.
Fitment
Will they fit?
Built for the Golf 8 (5H) mirror. If you're unsure whether your car left the factory with projection lamps, check your build sticker for PR code 1J2, or send us your VIN and we'll confirm before you order.
Golf 8 / 8.5 (5H) with factory mirror projection
2020 to present. Straight swap in any of the three designs. Covers GTI, R, GTE, GTD and base cars so long as the projection option is present.
Changing from one design to another
All three designs share the same housing and connector, so you can put the GTI badge on a base car or the VW dotted logo on an R. This is the most common reason people buy these.
Golf 8 without projection-equipped mirrors
No aperture, no connector. The mirror housing itself would need replacing first.
Other MQB models (Tiguan, Arteon, Passat, T-Roc)
Several MQB cars use a similar lamp but with different part numbers and housing geometry. Message us with your model year and we'll check the catalogue.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
How many lamps do I get?
Two — one for the left mirror and one for the right, both in the design you choose. They're only sold as a pair.
What's the difference between the three designs?
Only the projected image. VW dotted logo is the C part, the GTI badge is the D part, and the Golf Ball graphic is the A part. Everything else — housing, connector, LED — is the same.
Can I put the GTI logo on a non-GTI?
Physically, yes — the lamps are interchangeable and nothing in the car checks which one is fitted. Whether you want to is your call.
Can I mix two designs across the car?
Not in one order — each set is a single design. If you want a mixed pair, email us and we'll sort it manually.
Are these brighter than the originals?
They're the same specification as factory. What you'll notice is that a new lamp is brighter than a worn one, because the LED and the lens both degrade with UV exposure.
What's the return policy?
Handled under our standard refund policy. Reach out before sending anything back so we can sort it quickly.
