Overview
Your Tiguan has a GTI engine. Let it breathe like one.
Under the crossover body is the same MQB platform and EA888 Gen 3 2.0T as a MK7 GTI. The factory airbox is built to keep that engine quiet, and it costs airflow to do it. IE's kit replaces the box and plastic tract with a flow-first design that fills the space available.
Ram Air Scoop
Cold air from the grille, not the engine bay.
Most of the kit is a powder-coated aluminium heat shield that runs the full width of the front clip. It catches high-pressure air coming through the grille and feeds it straight to the filter, while walling off hot under-hood air.
Velocity Stack
A motorsport bellmouth, built in.
Air leaving the 5" filter funnels through an integrated bell-shaped velocity stack into the intake tube. That smooth transition keeps turbulence and drag down — part of how IE measured 16 CFM more than stock on the flow bench.
Sound
Hot hatch noises from a crossover.
With the sound-deadening airbox gone you hear the turbo spool and the whoosh on lift-off — the same soundtrack GTI owners get from this style of intake. Present when you're on it, quiet enough when you're not.
Fit
Designed from a 3D scan of the bay.
IE scanned the engine bay, bumper, hood and front clip to build the kit around the real constraints. It uses factory-style mounting points and looks like it belongs — no cutting, nothing permanent.
Stock vs IE
What changes.
| Factory airbox | IE intake | |
|---|---|---|
| Air source | Behind the headlight | Full-width ram air scoop |
| Filter | Flat paper panel | 5" pleated cotton cone |
| Tract | Small plastic piping | Integrated velocity stack + multi-ply silicone |
| Airflow | Baseline | +16 CFM at -30 inH₂O (IE flow bench) |
| Sound | Deadened | Audible spool and blow-off |
| Reversible | — | Yes, no permanent changes |
IE publish an airflow figure, not a horsepower number. On a stock-tune Tiguan the difference is mostly sound and throttle feel; the flow headroom pays off more once the car is tuned.
Fitment
Will it fit?
A direct bolt-on for every 2018–2024 MK2 Tiguan with the 2.0T EA888 Gen 3, pre- and post-facelift. The only thing to check is that your engine has a MAF sensor — every US-market car does.

Install
About an hour, basic tools.
Remove the factory airbox
Unclip the intake tube, unplug the MAF, and lift the stock box out of its grommets.
Fit the heat shield
The shield uses factory-style mounting points — no drilling or trimming.
Filter, velocity stack and silicone
Mount the filter to the stack, run the silicone to the factory turbo inlet, and snug the clamps.
Reconnect the MAF and check clearances
Plug the sensor back in, make sure nothing rubs, then start it and listen for leaks.
IE publish a step-by-step install guide (PDF). Everything is reversible if you ever need to go back to stock.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Does it fit my 2021–2024 Tiguan?
Yes. It's a direct bolt-on for every 2018–2024 MK2 Tiguan 2.0T, including the 2021+ facelift.
How much power does it add?
IE publish a flow gain — 16 CFM over stock — rather than a horsepower claim. On a stock tune you'll mainly notice sound and a crisper throttle. The extra flow matters more once the car is tuned.
Do I need a tune?
No. It runs on the factory ECU calibration, and the MAF stays in place. It works with a tune too.
I have an aftermarket turbo inlet. Will it work?
The kit is designed around the factory turbo inlet pipe. Owners pairing it with an aftermarket inlet have reported a tight coupler fit — tell us which inlet you run before ordering.
Is it CARB legal?
We couldn't find a CARB Executive Order number for this kit. If you're in California or another CARB state, check your local rules before ordering.
What's the return policy?
Uninstalled and in original packaging, returns fall under our standard refund policy. Get in touch before sending anything back.
