The Oil
ROWE Hightec Synt RS Longlife IV.
A low-friction 0W-20 built on HC-synthetic and PAO base oils, developed specifically for Volkswagen's current Longlife IV standard. It carries the blue tint VW uses for 508 00 oils, so it's easy to tell apart from the wrong stuff.
The Spec
VW 508 00 / 509 00 approved.
That's the approval the MK8 GTI's 2.0T calls for. It's also Porsche C20 approved and meets ACEA C5 — the low-ash chemistry that keeps a gasoline particulate filter and cat healthy over long intervals.
Cold Starts
0W flows the moment you turn the key.
The lowest cold-viscosity grade gets oil to the turbo and cam journals fastest on a cold start — where most engine wear happens. High oxidation stability keeps it working through the full interval.

It mixes safely with other oils, but ROWE recommend a full drain to get the most out of it — which is exactly what this kit is for.
Oil Change
About 30–45 minutes.
Warm it up, then lift it
A short drive gets the oil flowing. Get the car safely on ramps or stands and remove the belly pan.
Drain and fit the new plug
Remove the old drain plug and let it drain fully. The MK8's plug is plastic and meant to be replaced every service — fit the new one from the kit.
Swap the filter
Remove the old filter, lightly oil the new seal, and install it.
Fill, check, reset
Fill with the ROWE, run the engine briefly, check the level and look for leaks. Reset the service reminder in the car's menu.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Will this work on my MK8 Golf R?
No. The Golf R, Audi S3 8Y and Arteon need a different oil specification. Use our MK8 Golf R / S3 kit.
Why 0W-20?
It's what VW specifies for the MK8 GTI. The thin cold viscosity gets oil where it's needed fastest on start-up, and the 508 00 approval means it's been tested against Volkswagen's own engine requirements.
Do I really need a new drain plug?
Yes. The MK8 uses a plastic drain plug designed to be replaced every service. One is included so you're not caught out.
Can I mix it with the oil already in the car?
It's compatible with other synthetic and conventional oils, so a top-up won't hurt. For the full benefit, do a complete drain and refill.
Which filter will I get?
An OE-quality Hengst or Mann filter — both supply Volkswagen directly. Ask if you need a specific brand.
