The MK6 R kept the older EA113 2.0T when the rest of the range had moved on — cast iron block, timing belt, cartridge filter, and a reputation for taking abuse. It also runs hotter and harder than the GTI it shares a chassis with, which is exactly why a proper 502 00 full synthetic matters here. Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 holds its viscosity under sustained load and comes in a 5-liter jug against a roughly 4.6 L fill.
