How to Change the Virtual Cockpit Layout — MK8
Unlock extra Digital Cockpit views on your MK8 with OBDeleven — GTI, R and additional layouts — then cycle through them with the View button on the steering wheel.

The Digital Cockpit already has several layouts stored. OBDeleven lets you choose which ones are available, then the View button on the wheel flips between them.

Unlock the GTI and R cockpit styles plus additional views like round gauges and the R digital style, depending on your car's software.
Two ways to code
One-Click App or manual.
Use OBDeleven's Virtual Cockpit Layout One-Click App (credits or an ULTIMATE plan), or set the adaptation channel yourself in module 17.
In the car
Cycle with the View button.
Once enabled, press the View button on the steering wheel to step through every layout you've turned on.
Reversible
Back to stock any time.
Nothing changes in the hardware. Set the channel back to its original value — or revert the One-Click App — and the cockpit returns to factory.

Ignition on, engine off. Pick Option A (One-Click App) or Option B (manual) — you only need one.
Plug in and connect OBDeleven
Plug the OBDeleven into the OBD port under the dash on the driver's side, switch the ignition on and connect through the OBDeleven app.

Option A — One-Click App
Open Apps, search Virtual Cockpit Layout, pick the view you want and tap Activate. The app uses credits, or is included with OBDeleven's ULTIMATE plan. Skip to step 6 when it's done.
Option B — Open Instruments
For manual coding, open 17 — Instruments from the control unit list. If the app asks to unlock the module (SFD), follow the in-app prompt. Manual adaptations need a PRO or ULTIMATE plan.
Find View Activation
Tap Adaptation and search View activation (sometimes listed as View validation). Screenshot the current value before changing it.
Enable the views you want
Turn on the variants you want from the table below — you can enable several at once — then save.
Restart and cycle the views
Turn the ignition off and back on. Press the View button on the steering wheel to step through the layouts you've unlocked.

Which views will I get?
It depends on your cockpit's software. The common unlocks are the GTI, R, GTE, additional and offroad views — some cars show round gauges and the R digital style under the additional views.
One-Click App or manual — which should I use?
The One-Click App is the easiest: pick a view and tap activate, using credits or an ULTIMATE plan. Manual coding in module 17 needs a PRO or ULTIMATE plan but lets you enable several views at once.
How do I switch between views?
Press the View button on the steering wheel. Each press moves to the next layout you've enabled.
Can I go back to stock?
Yes. Set View activation back to the value you saved, or revert the One-Click App in OBDeleven.
Does this work on non-GTI Golfs?
Most MK8 cars with the Digital Cockpit can enable these views. Exact options vary by trim and software version.
