Overview
The squeak isn't your coilovers.
The factory MQB strut mount uses soft rubber that lets the steel centre cup move inside it. Drop the car, fit dampers, and that movement turns into the noise you hear pulling out of a driveway. These mounts are a re-engineered replacement, not an insert.
The Problem
Soft rubber, loose centre cup.
Low-durometer factory rubber allows the steel centre cup to shift under load. That's where the squeaking over speed bumps and low-speed bumps comes from, and it gets worse the moment you fit performance dampers or coilovers.
The Build
Vulcanised to the cup, not packed around it.
The rubber is fully vulcanised to the centre cups, which is what makes these last instead of packing out. The steel mount bodies were redesigned at the same time to handle the extra load of spirited driving.
The Result
Less deflection, sharper turn-in.
Reducing deflection at the top of the strut keeps suspension geometry where it should be under load. Steering feel gets more immediate and the front end stops feeling vague mid-corner.
Rubber vs Poly
Why rubber, not polyurethane.
Rubber works in tension, compression and shear — polyurethane only really works in compression. It also doesn't pack down and wear the way poly does, so the mount feels the same in three years as it does on day one.

60 or 70 durometer?
Same mount, same install, different rubber hardness. Pick 60 if the car is a daily; pick 70 if it sees track days or you want the sharpest front end you can get without going to a spherical mount.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Is this one mount or two?
Two. This is sold as a pair and covers both front corners — order quantity 1 for one vehicle.
Do I need new strut bearings as well?
They're not included, but we'd recommend them. The factory bearings (5Q0412249E) carry a lot of load and go noisy over time, and the strut has to come out either way — so it's the cheapest time to do them.
Which durometer should I pick?
60 for a daily driver where comfort matters, 70 if the car is on coilovers or sees track use. Both eliminate the factory squeak; 70 just transmits a little more road texture into the cabin.
Will these work on stock suspension?
Yes. They're a drop-in replacement for the factory mounts and work fine on stock dampers, lowering springs or coilovers.
How much noise will I actually notice?
Not much. 034 rates the 60 durometer as low NVH and the 70 as low-to-medium. Most people notice the squeak disappearing more than they notice any new noise.
Is this a DIY job?
It's involved — the front strut assembly has to come out and be disassembled, and you'll want spring compressors. Budget around four to five hours for the pair. 034 publishes a step-by-step install guide for the MQB mounts.
